Test and Data Services' Information Manual

Compiled in accordance with the Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000

1. INTRODUCTION

This document is intended to assist people when requesting information from the company in terms of the Act. Should the requester require any assistance in using this manual, they are invited to contact the company's HR and Legal Director, Mr CJ Stebbing, who has been duly appointed by the head of Test and Data Services to act as the person to whom requests for access to information must be made in terms of the Act.

1.1. ABOUT THE COMPANY

Test and Data Services (Pty) Ltd is South Africa's leading specialist in testing computer software. The company provides training on software testing and quality, as well as staffing solutions such as the provision of permanent, contracting, and consulting staff.

To facilitate ease of use, this document has been set out in such a way that it follows the layout of section 51 of the Act.

7. INFORMATION REQUEST PROCEDURES

Section 51(1)(e)

This section describes how to go about requesting information in terms of the provisions of the Act.

7.1. FORM OF REQUEST

All requests for information must be emailed to johns@testdata.co.za.
An acknowledgement will be given within 30 days.
If no response is received within the timeframe specified above, then the designated information officer must be contacted telephonically.
Any request for information must clearly state the details of:
- The requester (in sufficient detail for the information officer to accurately identify the requestor)
- The information requested (in sufficient detail for the information officer to accurately identify the record requested)
- The requester's postal address and fax number in South Africa
- Which right the requestor is invoking or protecting pursuant to the request, and a reasonable explanation as to why the information is required for the invoking or protection of this right.
- How the requester would like any information communicated back to him/her.
- Why the person making the request is authorised to do so (if the request is being made on behalf of someone else or on behalf of a juristic person) - proof is required.

7.2. FEES

Fees will be charged strictly in accordance with the provisions of the act, and regulations thereto, published in the government gazette. For more information on the fees please consult the following web sites www.sahrc.org.za and www.doj.gov.za. The guide provided by the South African Human Rights commission also provides a section setting out the relevant costs for the request for information.

Before proceeding with the request, the designated information officer will advise the requester of the relevant costs, if applicable, for processing the request.
The requester may lodge an application with the court against having to pay the requested fee.
The information officer will then make a decision on the request and notify the requester in the required form.
If the request is granted then a further access fee must be paid for the search, reproduction, and preparation of the requested records; and for any time that had exceeded the prescribed hours to search and prepare the record for disclosure.
